In 2001, while serving as the Director of Respiratory Therapy at Northshore University Hospital (NSUH) , Dr. Al Quinones founded the first hospital based, New York State Department of Education approved continuing education program for Respiratory Therapists. The goal was to provide a convenient option for NSUH RTs and Sleep Techs to obtain their CEUs. The first program was held in a small hospital conference room and only attended by 17 staff but the reviews were fantastic and the North Shore University Annual Respiratory Therapy Conference was born! The number of attendees grew each year for over a decade, with more than 400 RT’s and Sleep Techs from NY, NJ, and CT attending the conference in Al’s final year as the RT Director. The educational need was clear and the program continues to grow to this day under the leadership of Stanley John, a senior administrator at NSUH.
In 2008, Al, with the help of his family and close friends, founded Quinones Healthcare Seminars (QHC Seminars). Initially, all lectures were given in-person by a small group of talented and hardworking NSUH RTs and Physicians. They all had a common goal, to provide the best Respiratory Care education possible and move the profession into the future! A goal that Quinones Healthcare Seminars continues to fight for every day.
While we have primarily offered in-person seminars since 2008, out of an abundance of caution we pivoted to exclusively holding Live continuing education Webinars in early 2020. Not long after this shift in our continuing education delivery it became clear that RTs and Sleep Techs across the country could benefit from our AARC and AAST approved programs. Teaching is what we love, it’s what we do, and it’s who we are. With your support Quinones Healthcare Seminars will continue to provide exceptional continue education programs and work to advance our profession!
